Strange french sizes (from my perspective)

I recently ran across clothing made by Taillissime with sizes ranging from 42/43 through 61/62, which seems to be some combination of chest sizes and something else added on to the numbers. Anyone care to explain? Not planning on purchasing any items, but just curious.

do they have 41/42 and 42/43, or other fractions with the same numerator or denominators? if not, it might just be a lazy way of covering two sizes (41, 42, etc) with one garment as manufacturers try to force everybody into the "standard" sizes.

No, so I'm assuming it's similar to forcing people into 38/40, for instance. What threw me is the 61/62...that's an awfully large chest. But, perhaps these are the actual garment sizes? Strange, because nothing else there is sized that way.

European sizes are 10 more than U.S. or U.K. so that a 42 suit would be a 52 in France. I think they are just bracketing.

I think Andy is correct about the sizes just being European (+10), but another item by the same company ranges from 39/40 to 54/56, which confused me. (29 chest?...and no, it's no unisex). Both items are coats. I just wondered if they were incorporating length or something into the numbers, as I've seen this before.

I don't think you're big foot, as I wear a 44 shoe (converting, as I don't own any European-made shoes). Actually, the ideal body proportions (for a man) should be 44-31-37 with a 43 shoe, IMHO. As I'm 40-29-36 and wear a C-width shoe, I must be between a man and a woman.
