Hi, first time poster here

I am on my way of rebuilding my wardrobe and I have this strange blazer . My first thought was to chalk it up to a bad business decision but I would like a second opinion on it.

Its similiar to the jackets discussed in this thread

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=119941

Theres a chain running from the lapel hole to the breast pocket but instead of just being placed in the pocket its hooked into it. Now the chain is removable but that leaves the holes in the breast pocket which makes it look kind of cheap. Any advice on what can be done about or should I just give to charity and invest in a new one.

any help is appreciated.

I think if you're with a younger group of people in a place where you can wear a blazer, have confidence and wear it. I wouldn't wear it to church, or to an interview or anything else like that. I'd buy a new one for serious occasions, but at a party, then sure whatever, I doubt anybody would call you out on it.

I would stare if someone had that chain going across their chest.

I like unorthodox clothing, sometimes even to the point of apparent fussiness. My problem with your jacket isn't that it's strange, but that its strangeness seems like a tacked-on gimmick rather than essential to the overall design. Plus, I don't think it fits you all that well. So, stay adventurous if that's true to your character/style, but send this jacket on its way.

Thanks for all the replies and I agree with all you. When I bought the thing it felt original but its not timeless(or to the extent that it atleast has been tested by time)but tacky and I dont feel comfortable wearing it.After reading the Pre SF regrettable purchases thread I´ve atleast come to terms with some of my earlier bad purchases, eh you loose some you win some.

The picture URL is http://store.nikolajdetoiles.com/img...2-thickbox.jpg; I don't think that's his own fit pic.

That's definitely a youth fashion garment. Reminds me of some of the more whacky gear I see been worn by the young trendies here in China.

Put it this way, I certainly wouldn't wear it to the office or church. A nightclub maybe.

I'm probably in the demographic this is made for, and I would not wear it with that chain on it. Beyond the fact that the chain looks like a leash for a small dog, the tassel is just weird and out of place.

I would take the chain off and just sport the jacket. In a bar setting, no one will notice the hole in the jacket. Maybe someone has a creative idea to cover the holes?

I'm all for having a unique sense of style, but I don't think this works.

I agee with whomever suggested that the chain looks like a tacked on gimic. I'd unload the jacket at a thrift store.

Maybe you can get a crest or a logo sewn on over the pocket? Or remove the flaps from your hip pockets and have a tailor cover up the breast pocket.
