Curious how everyone stores their polish, wax, and brushes.

I've been using a cardboard shoe box, however, there is a strong residual smell from my Saphir polishes and wax, especially when I open the cabinet the box is kept in. Can't imagine the fumes are good for long term health.

I use a Gerstner & Sons box. They used to cost about $350 five years ago, and you could even get factory seconds at their annual sale for about $200, but they've since raised the price to some ridiculous amount I can't remember.

Mine is the 12 Repair Kit model. It has a pull out drawer at the bottom and some lift-out tray inside. There's a deeper storage space at the back for things like tall bottles. Gerstner has a bespoke program, if you really want to get into it, but I remember the price being something like $1,000 or so five years ago. I can't imagine what they are now.

They also have something called Gerstner International, a lower line of chests that’s sold at more affordable prices. Those are constructed in China (rather than Dayton, Ohio), made out of plywood (rather than white oak), and finished with a veneer (rather than hand stained). Since you're not banging the box around much, I assume the cheaper model is just fine.

Mine is not as opulent, nor as functional, as @dieworkwear 's, but is a nice piece of Canadiana. It is a repurposed solid maple bread box by Baribocraft. I found it used for $15, and I see them on Etsy, etc for about $75 CAD. I has a shelf at mid-height that also allows for taller items in the front. Although this does not address your concern about fumes, it is working for me.
