Stores' clothes left from a season

A scenario is waiting for a further price drop when suddenly all the articles are pulled only to not return the next season. If one garment disappears then its probably been sold but sometimes everything just disappears. A store I usually frequent puts all their old clothes in storage and if someone comes in asking for something particular from seasons past, they usually rummage through that storage to look for either that garment or something similar.
I guess discounting certain items too much is not a feasible business plan and that certain clothes are always relevant but I've noticed certain staple suits and jackets not returning for the coming season.
Does anyone with experience know what usually happens to past season clothes(Specifically suits and sport coats) that don't get sold.
