What is the deal with the tags I've seen on the inside of suit jackets? I've seen Jhane Barnes with Nordstrom tags and Hugo Boss with Neiman Marcus tags. Are those suits made for sale specifically in the respective department stores or do the department stores just brand them to get their name out?

Yes, they are made specifically for sale at that store. Almost everyone's doing that now- even the finer specialty stores. If it bugs you, shop at the designers boutiques or outlets. I'd be happy to provide you with locations if you'd like...

Are these suits less regarded than their non-retailer specific counterparts?

Very often, a retailer will add its label to a suit if 1) the suit was purchased at that store, EVEN IF the same suit is available elsewhere, or 2) if the store did some tailoring to the suit.

Generally, it can be looked at as a sign that the suit is genuine, and many people like having the retailer's label on their suits.
