Looks decent enough. It seems Apple bought the iPhone trademark from Cisco.

Wow, definitely cooler than I expected. I think I'll hold onto my AAPL shares a little longer

I'm viewing some sort of a demo on CNBC right now and the first thing that comes to my mind is that this screen is going to get real dirty and scratchy real soon. I hope they engineered something awesome for the screen.

Looks nice. But wtf, no keypad? Do they seriously have ANY human factors engineers at Apple? No tactile feedback, imprecise operation. What happens to people with less than stellar motor skills? P.s. hopefully this will make Nokia drop the price on the N95

Looks pretty cool. Sounds expensive. When does it come out? Any word on that?

It's being released in June in two versions; 4GB for $499 and 8GB for $599

At least someone made an attempt to design these. I know that resisting the temptation to make them white rectangles with a big circle interface is tough... kudos for experimenting with bold color, interface, and shape! They are probably still going to suck though. I bet these things are smudge magnets.

There are animated demos on apple.com. It's like someone made a sci-fi device reality: it redefines what phones can be. Simply amazing!

OMG. You can get a high-end Nokia N-series device for that much that is more versatile, with piles of third party software, Carl Zeiss camera, better hardware and support. And easy to use. This should have been MUCH cheaper. Seriously. Edit: CTGuy sees my point regarding such interfaces. Just because the technology is available does not mean it should be used (this was not popular on the Sony Ericsson P900 when it was released, either). P.s. anyone notice the resemblance with the little iRiver Clix? P.s.2 Clarification: while it is nice having an on board drive (which will raise cost) it is not a first. But how will Apple manage to get a foothold in a marketplace that has a very fast rate of change and many very large players that know what they are doing. They need to undercut the competition. The old Commodore trick of pricing higher than the competition to give the illusion of premium devices is not necessarily the best strategy!

Didn't that use a stylus? I'm pretty sure Apple has spent tons of resources perfecting the input method as it's one of its core features.

We have already been over this, IIRC. Touchscreens are used everywhere, have been for a long time. Just because Apple can dress up a pig (I think that is the correct expression) it does not change the PITA aspect of having a flat surface with a touch sensitive film that somehow magically will survive the rigours of being used as a mobile phone. THis is Apple. Durability has never been their design's strong point. Which will make people then upgrade. Oh and the prices are with a two year Cingular commitment. That is pure extortion. Oh well, same as the iPod, not a phone for the more discening users that need something that is more than a dumb bimbo essentially.

Lipstick on a pig. At my last company, we used that to describe out competitor's product during our product demo.

I agree with you. This iPhone thing is too pretty/fragile to be a good phone.
