I don't want to post all the shoe I make, but I hope this one will worth the time to take a look. It has been made to a bespoke order. Stingray and French calf. It was a real struggle to work with stingray. As I knwo stingray is 6-10 times stronger than normal calf (don't know how they measure it

), and the small pearls on the surface makes very hard to work with.

I'm sorry, the 4-eyelet derby design and bicycle front just don't appear to work for me. The shagreen makes that strange snout really stand out.

I think Stingray is an interesting material. From the shoemaker's perspective, is there a place on the shoe or a type of shoe where you think the added strength or toughness of shagreen makes it sensible to use?

Apart from the difficulty for you, once the shoes are made, is there any negative aspect of stingray?

It's really hard and not very flexible, so I'd be a little concerned with how it wears.

Aometimes classic designs look beautiful. Whatever you do, some people will not like it - thats why we have more shoes in the collection.

Negative? Hmm. I don't know about them. The last dor this leather type has to be really very exact, but it is the 6th or 7th shoe for this customer, you can believe it is that. So I hope he will like it.

Of course, I would expect Stingray to be waterproof.

Actually: most probably you are right. But I use 1.4-1.6 mm thick lining tp avoid problems.

Interesting texture. I would think that a lace up boots on double leather sole would look very appropriate in stingray leather.

Not exactly my cup of tea. But I will consider stingray in upcoming orders.

Stingray is one of the few exotics I just don't generally care for, so I have to vote 'no' on this one.

I love it, but I'd find it hard to make it work on a shoe.
