I am actually looking towards Steven Aver as well. I sent an e-mail earlier this week, but have not heard back yet. My biggest hurdle has been deciding on a fabric from a 2" by 2" computer screen photo. I asked for fabric samples of two selections, we will see what happens.

On the MTM measurements, my thought was to print his measurement page and take it to a local tailor, give them $25-$50 bucks and have them measure me. Any problems seen from this logic???

Colt, that was my strategy. Got a friend in fashion design to measure me, and afterwards just made sure I understood all the the design choices before I pulled the trigger.

It's definitely true that you need to be educated before ordering MTM, but even for me, the MTM process itself was also a learning experience, as it forces you to learn about every detail and how it works in relation to your body, proportions, and sense of style.

I don't think it's necessary but I guess if you're not confident and willing to spend, it can't hurt. But make sure you double/triple check the measurements yourself. Also, be sure to specify anything you want done that's not covered in the options i.e. cut/sleeves.

It's not a bad place to start. But be aware that accurate measurements of your body will not necessarily result in a suit that fits the way you want. You'll want to have a conversation w/ *any* MTM maker about how these measurement will translate to the actual garment.

Another recommendation is sending in a suit that you like and use it AND the measurements to arrive at the new suit. Smaller in the shoulders, the pants are too tight, etc, etc, etc.

Smart thinking, Colt. That's a good way to go about it.

It has been well over two weeks since I sent an e-mail to Steven Aver, no response. Anyone else having a problem with communication?

I think he's swamped with re-working his website right now. Don't worry, he'll get back to you, either via email or through this forum.
