Steve McQueen, Fashion Icon - WSJ.com
"Steve McQueen died in 1980. Today, he is a rising star in menswear. Dolce & Gabbana has created a line of $285 T-shirts decorated with pictures of the 1960s and '70s star for spring, building on the success of a limited-edition line in spring 2008. Thom Browne, a designer known for his extremely fitted clothing, cites Mr. McQueen's look in "The Thomas Crown Affair" as an inspiration. Pictures of Mr. McQueen adorn the "mood" bulletin boards used in-house to inform J. Crew's collections, says Frank Muytjens, head of men's design. The retailer carries off-white, slim-fitting corduroy pants and Baracuta jackets like the ones the actor wore; it even styles outfits in its catalogs based on photographs of him."

Inspiration or replicas of things he wore is one thing, but branding his name on the garments is pretty naff.

I just finished reading the paper and that crap looked bad enough in the b&w pic. The only logos I recall seeing on McQueen were racing sponsors. How could they miss the point of his style so badly?

I kinda love the idea of wearing stuff with one's own name branded across it.

I'm sure if he were alive today, Steve would be wearing a "McQueen" tee, under a "McQueen" jacket while carrying a "McQueen" bag.

His wardrobe in the Thomas Crown Affair is epic indeed. Beautiful 3pcs with club collar and pin. Roger Sterlings inspiration undoubtedly.

Funny enough I thought the wardrobe in the remake was even better...

One of my fav actors. Very cool screen persona. My fav film for Steve was Papillon. He even made prisonwear look great.

Toyota, Apple, J. Crew and K-Mart (a.k.a. Sears, a.k.a Lands End) have announced a joint Special Edition Hybrid Version of this:

The tires will be vegan, and thus, any resulting smoke from them will be guaranteed to be nutritious and somewhat organic.

The handguns accessorized with the car will shoot fish oil caplets.

Awful. I prefer Marcel Cerdan Heritage.

Full disclosure -- his grandson is a buddy.
