That's terrible. He made great tv shows in the 80's and early 90's.

My mother made me learn to play the Hill Street Blues theme on the piano.

Yeah, I looked him up because I couldn't remember details, and he created most of the shows that defined my childhood. If he'd done The Dukes of Hazzard, The Fall Guy, and Airwolf he would pretty much have the live-action shows of my childhood on lockdown.

Plus, wasn't he the guy who had the little animation at the end where he tore a sheet of paper off a typewriter, and it landed perfectly on a stack that feathered out to make a "C?" That animation and the Ubu dog are forever burned on my memory.

Sad to hear, he pretty much defined the cop and detective show genre.

Plus he produced The Greatest American Hero.

I LOVED this show when I was a kid. Then recently (4th of July?) SyFy had a marathon of it (they used to do Twilight Zone on that day). I watched part of one--I had not seen the show since the original run. I thought it was embarassingly bad.

Yeah, it hasn't aged well. Another movie like that is Karate Kid.

And yet, when I started a thread about GAH the day after the marathon, nobody responded. And I was sad.
