    Y'alls,

The "would you go down on a chick during a one night stand" threak in DT got me thinking (a rare occurance in itself, and one to be celebrated). What kind of STDs can a dude get from going down on a girl?

Let's assume she does not have any nasty ass shit going on down there at all, after a careful inspection. That established, what is a guy really at risk for by going down on her? Googling is useless as 99% of the relevant sites are sponsored by neonazi conservatives who view any kind of unprotected sex as sinful. These sites also generally list diseases such as HIV as transmittable through oral, even though much of the medical establishment agrees that this is close to a 0% transfer rate. In other words, I want realistic answers, not "well if she has a huge cut in her pussy and you just ate a razor blade, and she has twelve types of HIV, you may get it". So if a doctor or someone can chime in with what can be transferred and a rough estimate of infection rate, that would be helpful. K thx.

I honestly believe this might end up in the DT, but who knows?

Anyway, Herpes is def. one that could be transmitted orally.

You can get the herp if she's got an outbreak while you're down there. HIV is possible in theory but I've never heard of a case where someone got it through eating snatch.

Just googled "std oral transmission" and this gem was in the first link. I present it for your amusement, and welcome speculation as to which SF'er this is most likely to be:

"Hi Dr. Hunter, thanks for all that you do on this site. Today is exactly 90 days since an encounter with a pre-op TS escort. We met for approximately 30 minutes in which we performed mutual, unprotected oral on one another for about 5 minutes and I performed protected anal on her for about 2 minutes. I'm quite certain the condom remained intact. The remainder of the time was spent kissing, close body contact, mutual jerking, etc. I saw no physical lesions anywhere on her body, and she told me she was 100% clean. I have not come down with any symptoms except for excessive stress/guilt/anxiety/fear of contracting a disease and passing it onto my family. I'm afraid to make love to my wife because of the chance that I may have caught "something". What is the possiblity of contracting any STD from this encounter and what would they be? Would I have shown symptoms of any kind by now? I was tested by my doctor for anything he could test me for 5 days after the encounter (which all came back negative), but feel that testing may have been too soon to reveal anything. I'm seeking what everybody else on hear is, and that is reassurance. Thanks for your time.

Hmmn, this link kind of sucks. They don't list HIV or Hepatitis.

To summarize (to the best of my ability).

Hep B - not likely; may be possible. I think the data is inconclusive.

Hep A - not really an STD but if you're kunk i.e. relish eating ass, can happen.

Hep C - see Hep B; probably even less likely.

    Syphilis - most definitely.

Chlamydia - possible although more likely for the woman to get it from giving a BJ.

Gonorrhea - see Chlamydia; not very likely.

HIV - low risk with oral but possible.

    Herpes - yes.

    HPV - yes.

    Propose a mechanism for transmission.

"Less risk than anal or vaginal sex".

The NIH or the CDC (I don't remember which) once published that the likelihood of transmitting HIV via one occurrence of unprotected vaginal intercourse - when one of the people is KNOWN to have HIV - is 1 in 500.

So they are therefore saying that the risk of oral transmission is LESS than 1 in 500 - and that is if the occurrence is with somebody who for SURE has it.

^Chart I linked above says that even unprotected buttsechs is only 15 in 1,000 for the receiver and 3 in 10,000 for the giver.

I don't know how much I trust your chart. For example, it lists only herpes as being a definite risk when performing oral sex on a woman.

This is completely false. Syphilis is easily transfered during oral sex although, to be fair, it would likely be accompanied by sores (in the primary stage and also secondary as well) and hopefully one won't be going downtown when visible sores are present. Throw in alcohol and/or poor lighting though...

This is funny. Is it somehow less probable to get HIV from a girl who has it but isn't SURE? Is there some kind of AIDS uncertainty principle of which I'm unaware?

Girl 1) Pick up a random girl in a bar. Have sex with her.

Girl 2) Pick up a random girl in a bar. Have sex with her. Afterwards she shows you her HIV test results - which are positive.

Which one are you more likely to acquire HIV from?
