I'm calling these starter jackets, coats to begin fleshing out a wardrobe early on when you are on a budget. That's how they worked for me. Nothing fancy or heirloom, but workable jackets that are a descent, solid fit on a standard 38R (48IT) build.

This assumes you have a navy blazer, but need a few more blazers for variety to tie you over until you can get your bespoke projects going. :)

I will sell to (a) SFers who are active in discussion threads and/or (b) SFers with good buyers feedback (or, those with great Ebay feedback). Paypal only, Please add $16 for shipping and fees.

I'm usually a 38R (48IT). Sleeve length typically 24 inches from shoulder seam to cuff. None of these have working buttons so lengthening is possible. Please PM for detailed measurements. No returns, so happy to answer all questions. A few fits involving these jackets can be seen in my IG.

Burberry London tan jacket (USA made) 38R $130 110

This is a tan jacket with something like a vintage pattern. I had my tailor take in the back, and he did a superb job. He also steamed it so that it would be closer to a 3r2 buttoning (it was a hard 3), and that worksd well. Slightly extended shoulders, fully lined, likely half-canvassed.

As someone has asked for measurements, I will post here (measured with jacket buttoned and laid flat):

Pit to Pit is 20 inches maybe 20.25
Waist is 18 inches
Length from bottom of collar is 30.5
Sleeve from top of shoulder to cuff is 24.5
Shoulders are 18.25 seam to seam measured on a standard, wide hanger appropriate for jackets.

Others will be similar, though a touch shorter.

Pringles Casual Grey Jacket $99 79

Made in Italy, Pringles, known for their knit wear, has in recent years moved towards fashion pieces. Funky piece, with all sorts of casualizing elements except that it's a light grey worsted. Fully canvassed, partially lined, works well in summer with white trousers. Small stain on inside which isn't noticeable. Worn 3-5 times.

Michael Kors linen blend jacket $95 75

I like the color of this jacket. Linen/poly/viscose blend that is quarter lined. Nothing fancy, and I usually take this when I have to travel, wearing it without a tie (e.g. with a white button down). Something of a traveling coat that I take when a coat is needed for an event without being overly fancy.. It's center vented and a bit rumply there.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
