Ricardo owned this film and rightly so, God rest him. He was class and so under-appreciated.
    Interesting side note:
I read or saw an interview years ago with Ricardo, and he said he and William Shatner never saw each other during the shoot.
Makes sense as their characters are never in the same frame even once during the film. All the more credit to him for his wonderful acting.

Alright guys the world premiere for Into Darkness is happening in Australia on April 23rd, which means today for us. If you want to stay as spoiler free of the movie and who the villain is, as I do, be extra careful from here on out. Everything I have read and the marketing leads me to believe this mystery is one of the key plot points to the film. It wouldn't be fun having that spoiled for you early, unless that's what you want.

Me? I'm doubling down on my theory from earlier in this thread. :)

Official clip from the film. Nothing that spoilery as it's from the first 9 mins that was shown before The Hobbit.

What's with the awful costumes? Did they have those in the last movie? I don't remember.

^It's probably some underwater specific suits.

I believe this is correct. They are wet suits specific to the opening scene of the movie.

Getting a major Star Wars vibe with this scene and the sound effects. :stirpot:

Read spoilers from the Sydney premiere.

A bit let down with what I read, especially regarding John Harrison.

    Agreed. Looks too CGI-plasticy too.

Why don't they just take the Original 1960's series and CGI behind the acting. That would be magnificent.

CGI looks great. I have no issue with the visual FX from the clips and trailers.

I watched this last night. One question: what is it about starship design that causes so many explosions directly on the bridge? You'd think they would protect their command center a little better.

It is done purely for dramatic purposes. Who cares if some other part of the ship is exploding with flames and sparks everywhere?! The characters you care about are on the bridge, so you want to focus on them and the danger they are in.

The bridge is on top of the saucer. If you didn't notice, the Enterprise was shooting directly at Khan's bridge every time they got the chance. In that movie -- and only that movie -- the explosions on the bridge actually make sense. The subsequent shows are a different story.

    Google reveals this screenshot:

^^ The bridge is the dome directly to the left of the impact. That's why the ceiling collapsed when it was hit.

I thought Nil was referring more generically to "whenever the Enterprise is attacked things on the bridge go "POOF" and people in red shirts go flying"...
