Hello!

We’re big fans of Styleforum and are excited to introduce our brand to the community. Even though we haven’t been active posters, Styleforum has been a huge resource for us professionally and personally for years.

We’re Jase and Mike, the founders of Standard Fair. In short, Standard Fair is premium footwear and accessories, handcrafted slowly.

We started Standard Fair to create products we wanted to wear but couldn't find. Handcrafted styles for the modern wardrobe. Products with clean, minimal design that are made to last and made the right way - ethically handcrafted in fair working conditions. To build our set of wardrobe standards, we started from the ground up - with footwear.

So, over the past two years, we've researched, designed, and developed one of our ideal footwear styles, the Sport Camp. We’ve been working with one of the few remaining American footwear factories (and one of the world’s best, in our opinion :)) to create the Sport Camp. They’re located in Maine and have been great (and very patient) to work with as we’ve gone through three lasts, multiple pattern changes, and construction/material experimentation to perfect our design.

About the Sport Camp

The Sport Camp is a hybrid sneaker that combines the best of modern design, high-quality materials, and traditional construction methods. To create a timeless style, we found inspiration in iconic American and German athletic footwear from the 1980s and 1970s. Full-grain Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather uppers ensure the Sport Camps will last for years and age beautifully over time, developing a patina distinct to your wear. To achieve durability, we put our veg-tanned uppers on the classic camp-moc outsole. The result is a unique footwear hybrid—one of the world’s few “resole-able” sneakers. The Sport Camp features a slim and striking low-profile silhouette that stands out in a sea of trendy sameness dominating men’s sneakers today: endless thick cupsoles and tennis shoe iterations.

We’re launching the Standard Fair brand, the Sport Camp, and a collection of limited-edition accessories on Kickstarter on March 27th. After that, we’ll launch our online store. We’re offering the Sport Camp in two initial colors: Chestnut and Honey. Both feature a natural gum camp sole.

The Sport Camp and our limited-edition accessories will be significantly discounted for our Kickstarter, with the first supporters getting the best deals. Post-Kickstarter, the Sport Camp will retail for around $400. It’s a competitive price that we think offers tremendous value for an American-made design in premium materials (from the Horween leather linings to the Italian veg-tanned uppers) that can be resoled, last for years, and age beautifully over time.

We’re here to create beautiful products with real value – true investment pieces that last. We believe in our products and stand behind the quality of our signature launch design. To prove this, we’re offering every Kickstarter backer who purchases a pair of Sport Camps a free resole, should they ever need it.

We’ll be sharing “insider” details (product features, additional images, sneak peeks at the other products in our launch collection, etc.) through our email and social accounts. So, be sure to subscribe and follow. If you need any extra incentive to subscribe and share, we’re giving away free Sport Camps every week until we launch. Once you subscribe to our email, you’ll be entered to win and can get additional entries by following us on social media and sharing. We have two more giveaways left with the next winner picked this Tuesday, 3/20. So, be sure to sign up soon!

You can find more information about Standard Fair on our website, Instagram, Facebook (links in signature) and now on Styleforum.

About Us

We’re a team of two and proudly self-funded. We’re used to working behind the scenes as designers, developers, and researchers. We've helped fashion labels in the United States and Europe create successful footwear and accessories collections.

We’re stepping out from behind the scenes to share our knowledge, values, and ideal products with all of you.

We’d love to hear your feedback and are here to answer any questions you have.

Will you be offering any other colors? Love the design but I have so many brown shoes - would love black.

Chestnut and Honey will be our only "set" pre-order colorways for the campaign. We will be offering a couple custom packages during the campaign, though. These will allow you to pick from over 50 veg-tanned leather colors (black included) and multiple color options for the camp sole. These packages will come with additional perks as well. More details to come on this soon!

^Agreed. The sneaker looks great. Looking forward to the launch. It has the Hender Scheme vibe, but made in the States with better pricing than HS can typically be sought for at least from the States. Good luck with everything.

For whatever reason I'm getting Kimber vibes. Which is a good thing, and means there will probably be a lot of fans around here.

Looking at em in the ad just below me right now, they look fantastic on-foot. Love the camp sole.

Very interested; will you offer wide widths? All the high end sneakers are missing widths

An imprint on your website would be a good start.

So does this mean that a person ordering a "custom package" could, for example, order a sneaker in navy blue, if that's one of the veg-tanned leather colours that are included?
