Brogued black loafers (I think StC calls them gimped?) in aniline black, E last:

I really, really like these. Black loafers are probably my favorite type of shoe, and these are just unusual enough without being over the top. RTW loafers are usually a bit too wide for me, and these fit perfectly. Now that my size is dialed in, I think Model 530T, the “puristic loafers with tassels”, is my next pair. In black of course.

In light of today's archive sale, I am a 7 in Alden barrie and 6.5 in Foster Son 05 last, both in regular width. Would I be able to pull off 7E on the novello last?

Might be big.

I never got to try on the FS shoes, but when I spoke to Andy (Murphy) he said "take your usual EG sizing".

Which will possibly mean that that Novello should be a touch long. You may be able to get away with the larger size in the width department but expect some room in that shoe.

How does the Barrie fit you?

Lined barrie fits me fine with thin socks and snug with boot socks. I need boot socks for the unlined chromexcel chukka though those might be an exception because of how much the chromexcel has stretched. Both 7D. My other references are a 6.5 in Vibergs 2050 and a 7(US sizing) in Brooks brothers chukka boots made by Alfred I believe. These two are strictly thin socks and even then are a tight fit.

That last is similar (give or take a little tightness or looseness here or there) to the Carmina Rain and JL 7000. The Barrie would correspond rather favorably to a half size down taken on the StC...or a 6.5UK.

Personally, I find StC tighter in the toe box and about the same in the instep area to the JL7000 (which for me is tight). Saying that, out of any shoemaker I have tried they are pretty close.

Alternatively, the Rain last is equal in the toe box to StC but with more space throughout the rest of the shoe.

The key word is Bold. That's why I am out of many (if not all) models. Bold in my book equals a dark Burgundy or Medium Brown ?.

Yeah. for example this...

I think it's a cool pair for display but I have no clue how to wear it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), the pair I am very interested is gone, I was gonna give myself a 24 hours clam down period before buying it... lol
