Oh, okay. In my limited experience they fit TTS, so 9F = UK9E, but I know some can take another half size down.

I plan to get them in a mid-brown maybe tobacco or milk chocolate.

What do you think I should go for?

I find the 503 (with the brogue captoe) slightly more casual. I say slightly because it still looks like a shoe that can be used in professional settings. Considering mid-brown is less formal than either dark brown or black, by that logic I would go with the 503 with a milk chocolate color.

The toe caps should be the same length because they are on the same last. That said, I'm sure the leather type and width difference may account for the visual disparity between the two caps.

Please pay attention to the back of the shoe where the 529D is lacking the back split. That clean look to me makes it the least casual of the two but again, the final formality will be all down to leather choice and what options you go with in terms of brougueing

Thanks for the kind words. The leather was a bit dry before and there were quite some color variant due to toe polishing, I used a darker color cream and I think they look way better now!

What do you all think about the unique (some might say excessive) creasing on the crust leather? Can anyone compare the creasing on this to other textures and non-texture leathers from St. Crispin's?

@Patrick1053.. I don't have crust leather from StC (2 Russ Horweens, 2 Blk Ani, 1 suede), but I can say that the vamp area is on the thinner side (regardless of leather type). I remember handling the crust at several trunk shows, and when they had their atelier here in NY.

StC’s uses a thin crust leather (I find the crust still thinner than the other leathers) which they themselves dye, unlike say pre-dyed crust which others use. So when you have house dyed crust, a thin leather (which creases like a mothereffer regardless of maker), and a high tension area like the vamp, you will have visible creasing and discoloring.
Comes part and parcel with StC and the crust leather option.

If I recall correctly @Encore has a lower instep and/or doesn't have feet with girth to them. Consequently, there's excess space which has more room to bend which then causes that creasing or bubble. StC will probably just reduce that area by what they deem appropriate to minimize the problem area.

Hopefully the area from the bend of the top of the foot to the heel (there's a word for it but I forgot) isn't affected. Cause then you'd have closer facings, which, hopefully don't touch.

thank you. What is there aniline like? Would you describe it as particularly soft? And how does it crease?
