Did they come in? We want to see.Just to follow up on our conversation, yesterday I visited The Hand and met Dennis in person.
I felt very welcoming and he helped me hone in the correct last and size. I felt he really listened to my concerns regarding fit. We came to the conclusion that the standard lasts from STC worked the best (compared to EG) for me and I didn't need a personal last. Mto with some small modifications would work perfectly. So I ordered a dark brown penny loafer on the 717 style last, with ton-sur-ton apron stitching. 8mm sole. Really looking forward to it!
Not yet, we take it slow and steady Next week I will have a fitting.Did they come in? We want to see.
Got the email from Cristina Friday that my pair of 798 are on the way.
Appreciated, very interesting choices. I do especially like the tassel loafer. That one almost looks like a hybrid between a houseslipper and a normal shoe.Well, that didn't spoiler how I intended, so enjoy a post with lots of shoes of different varieties.
That reverse stitch(?) apron is something i haven't seen before, not my thing but interesting nonetheless. My favorite thing about this thread is the individual nature of these posts and how they represent unique opinions about how different styles have been posted and liked. However, I received my 4th pair of St. C's today, the third on my personal last, and I don't remember what I've posted before, so this post is going to be a celebration of my collection of Crispin's and the various ways they can be styled.
First up are my 798s that arrived in the mail these days. These were made up on my personal last modeled on the chiseled last. I have yet to wear them because they arrived today

That is exactly what I was going for with them and exactly how I use them. I can't take total credit for them, though. Skoaktiebolaget sells a similar loafer (the 530 with no tassel) in the same leather. I went with ordering my own because my personal last has adjustments that keep my heels and the knuckle of my big toes from rubbing inside and causing hotspots.Appreciated, very interesting choices. I can see them getting a lof of wear.
They call it Juchtenleder, which is a reverse cow leather. They are extremely similar to this standard model that St. C. makes that I liked, however I got mine with a norvegese welt and 8mm leather soles instead of rubber soles. What's the leather on the newest pair?
I quite like it. Very congruous, the whole makeupThey call it Juchtenleder, which is a reverse cow leather. They are extremely similar to this standard model that St. C. makes that I liked, however I got mine with a norvegese welt and 8mm leather soles instead of rubber soles.
I also have brass pegs in the toe and a monogram, but those are mostly vanity. A cool thing about this new pair is that they came in white shoe bags instead of black, like all of my other pairs.
Are you talking about the monks? Those are my first pair that I ordered through Skoaktie. They're the 630 for the monk part, but I wanted them with the handsewn apron and split toe that they do on derbies, which wasn't an issue. They're in bison leather. That reverse stitch(?) apron is something i haven't seen before, not my thing but interesting nonetheless.

Ah. That. Yeah, I had similar thoughts about that to begin with, but what drew me to the 798 was it explicitly being entirely hand sewn, which made me think that technique was something hard to do, and I like having things incorporated simply because they are difficult. The 798s in the waxed suede.
