Doesn't matter whether I like them or not.

They're going to be yours, not mine.

Still can't wait to see which ones you chose.

Finally had occasion to take them for a spin in Vancouver last week so here are a couple of pics per your request. Wore them Thursday for the first time a couple hours out to dinner and then a few more hours out on Saturday night for an even nicer dinner. Fit comfortably on first wear and just keep getting better as I break them in. I'm definitely hooked on SC and will have to figure out which next pair I want to order in the next few months.

Random question, why did you pick these instead of say EG Dover or GG Hove?

Probably because St. Crispins are constructed better than either of those brands. Also, their customer service is top notch. Furthermore last customization puts them on top for RTW.

Sorry wasn't following the entire thread, was this bespoke?

edit: what I mean is fit is such a personal preference thing, some cheap shoe might fit you better than some high end RTW just because the last turns out to fit you well, though no doubt about St. Crispins being better constructed I suppose (at least compare to RTW GG/EG).

No, but St. Crispins will customize a standard last to fit you better. Even after the shoe is constructed.

I wish I could say that, but the truth is I was just at the right place/right time. I've really only been into shoes seriously the last couple of years and only really started learning more about St. Crispins and subsequently coveting them the last 6-8 months. I almost pulled the trigger on 2 different pair via Leffot, but both times I had crossed the threshold of spending the money, they sold out in my size.

So on a visit to ShopTheFinest's warehouse I was trying on some Santonis and over the course of conversation was brought out these Saint Crispins. I tried them on and they fit perfectly. I was never in the market for a pair of Split Toes and wasn't expecting to find St. Crispins there (especially at that price) so I didn't pull the trigger initially. It took me all of a day before I contacted them back and asked them to hold the pair for me and I picked them up the following week. I just lucked out that they fit so well and I've since fallen in love with the split toe style. Granted, I'm not a big fan of all of the St. Crispin styles...the 108 for example on Leffot's site are just not split toes I would wear. That said, there is at least for me a noticeable difference in quality over the G&G's I just picked up from Barneys. I'd say outside of my JL Prestige shoes, nothing else in my modest collection surpasses them in construction and finishing.

Even compared to the JL prestige (which I have owned a few pairs) I would not say that the jl is above StC in any sense

I don't know if Ethan is using the term shoemaker liberally or not, but eight makers is a lot for a workshop.

p.s., pegged waist is probably an easier construction to create a narrow waist. most high end bespoke makers do actual blind welt stitching instead of pegged to show off their techniques.

I have cracks in pretty much all my old shoes. I don't mind. I did just send a pair of G&G bespokes back to Tony for resoling. He said he could do something about the cracks so I am hopeful.

I honestly don't know how you guys do it, none of my shoes have cracks yet (max life 5 years so far). That include things ranging from Testoni/Ferragamo to CJ bench and handgrade then onto EG/GG

Patrick - didn't you want to wear your first pair for a few weeks to see how the fit settles down with wear before ordering your second pair (e.g. incase any minor adjustments are needed to the last)?

Really interested in seeing how this turns out.

Yeah that went out the window.

That pair of shell cordovan shoes might be mine. Supposedly they are on their way so if that was last week it very well could be. I can't tell if they are black and just not finished yet on the edges of the patterns. Well, I got them in black, same size, and same last.
