I wouldn't call that calligraphy it's just "writing"
When I write, it might as well be calligraphy (or hieroglyphics)
First time I've seen that... hmmm, might try that out if I ever go bespoke.
if u want to get technical, I'd call it nails in the bottom of a shoe
To "write" Chinese characters in the right proportions is calligraphy. It's way more complicated than the standard typesetting alphabets.
That is a stretch. Chinese characters have long been printed using typesetting (and today, digitally), and this, 活字 is very distinct from calligraphy.
Calligraphy, in Western and Eastern writing alike, implies using some kind of brush or broad-tipped tool to produce continuous and connected strokes. Hammering nails into a shoe bears a much closer resemblance to stamping things with a printing press than to calligraphy.
Regardless, your broader, if unspoken, point, that they did a seriously bang-up job of the stroke shape for it being a) nails in a shoe and b) Chinese characters recreated by some dudes in Romania, still stands.
There can be naturalized Asians in Romania.
The quality is very impressive! I can't even write my name that nicely with a pen!
Agreed. Fantastic shade.
Was able to snag a pair of 402 boots and 532 oxfords from the Leathersoul sale.......
Nice work Moo, they look great
Thanks Cleav, and at a nice price too.... win/win
The current St. Cripsin SOTC.......
Gorgeous collection moo, nice haul from LS
may I ask if any of those shoes are in the Novello last or they are chiseled?
Just a word doc converted to a pdf with the font in a big size. They've had some practice with my name though
As an aside, I didn't get anything from the LS sale although there were a few in my sale. Somehow for the price and without trees, I didn't think it represented that much of a value over normal MTO - it may have been different if they had something that I really wanted, like that long vamp derby, whatever it's called.
Separate names with a comma.
