Nothing wrong with half soles as long as the repairman knows what he's doing and doesn't create a met bar in the process.

Nothing wrong until the splice comes apart...again usually due to poor workmanship....and then you end up looking even more like a db with your half soles grinning at all and sundry.

On a more serious note...on pegged waist shoes I do recommend half soles simply because replacing/"recrafting" a pegged waist is not only an uncommon skill among repair people, but it is destructive of the shoe. Otherwise, all else being equal...a full or three-quarter sole is always to be preferred.

Yeah, these are pegged at the waist.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Received my first order from The Armoury, the whole process was great and the pairs were delivered on time! Imagine that! I also am very impressed by the sizing. I've got wide feet and even when I normally sized up a half size and ordered a wide width, I would struggle to break-in pairs in less than 3-6mo. These appear to fit excellently right out of the box. Can't wait for my second order which is in process and I'm already considering putting in my 3rd order!

Both are awesome. The suede looks like it could walk away on its own!

Simple Captoe Boots in Dark Brown Inca. Turnaround time was great, 8 weeks.

Ejirardo - those are simple but absolutely terrific. They should prove to be very versatile - I'd get a TON of wear out of something like that. And I applaud your choice of outsole. Congrats and enjoy!

Has anyone in the US purchased a pair of St. Crispin's from Leatherfoot in Canada? How was the experience... anything I should be wary of? Thanks.

I got the pair of boots that I just posted for $1,600 so that's a $200 price increase which while not a huge deal is proportionally a large increase. Maybe not a big increase for you but others do like to know this.

I think St Crispins are joining the popularity price spiral/gouging. The shoes are made in Rumania FGS so what's the go?

SC has always been pricing at a premium to its peers. And the pricing strategy combined with deep customization worked very well for them.

plus the hype and hoopla compounded by the brilliant marketting of Mr Carr only accentuates the gullibility of its esteemed customers.
