Hello,

My wife and I will be vacationing in Sri Lanka from July 20 - Aug 3. I am looking for suggestions on what clothing to wear.

We will be splitting the trip into three legs. The first few days, we will be in the mountains at the Tea Trails. The second leg, we will be on the beach near Tangalle at Amanwella. The third leg is in Galle Fort at the other Aman.

Do men wear bermuda shorts, or always pants? Polo shirts, or buttoned. Long/short sleeves? Light colors, or bright. What type of footwear?

Any help appreciated!

Best,

Jude

its pretty hot, and, while an ex-English colony, relatively casual. I would say shorts and short sleeved shirts would be good.

by the way, there is an excellent selection of hand loomed cotton madras fabric available, if you wanted to buy some to have shirts or something made.

sri lanka also has an indigenous coconut brandy called arak, which is an interesting thing to bring home. and the food is excellent - i'd read up on it before you go, its sort of like south indian, but it uses beef, and slightly different use of starches.

enjoy
