Damn you all for reviving this thread... I suppose while we are at it, a question. Does any maker make a quality equivalent square toe shoe, compared to AE or higher? Or is it purely fashion, and no reputable maker would waste the calf leather? Imagine... Cordovan square toe double monks, ow the horror!

I wouldn't wear a square toe shoe because then people are going to think that I have square feet.

I use only square-toed shoe trees for my square-toed Prada sneakers.

I have fit issues with square toed shoes, as I cannot afford the bespoke square toed socks that I must commission to accompany the shoes.

Pretty sure even "Fashion brands" like Gucci, and Prada etc have moved away from the extreme squareness of 10 years ago. If you look at their current collections, its a less extreme square or a more rounded toe.

I've been reading Flusser, Roetzel, and others. And square toe shoes are not canon. But I do recall reading that they are acceptable when you have a squarish foot as they are sometimes the best fit. That is, rather than trying to squeeze into a round toe shoe that doesn't fit. I'll flip through and see if I can find a citation for this.

As trolling goes, this is a rather silly attempt. As much as we still talk about square-toed shoes they haven't been "in" for at least 2 or 3 years.... Forget about "fashion vs. classic style" - anyone wearing square-toed shoes today clearly can't be bothered with either.
