I was hoping one of you guus would be able to help me out with this. I just got this bottle of pure squalene of deep sea shark or something along those lines. I was hoping for something like a normal fish oil so I could make up for the lack of fish in my diet (allergies) but this is what they gave me.

Has anybody ever tried this? What are the effects/benefits of taking this squalene over normal fish pills?

I can honestly say that I've never heard of this before.

All higher organisms produce squalene, including humans. It is a hydrocarbon and a triterpene. It is mainly obtained shark liver oil. There is no evidence I have seen of it having any health benefits. It has been associated with the Gulf War Syndrom: http://www.avip2001.net/OfficialDocu...a_squalene.pdf I don't know much about it, but as far as I know this is not a mainstream supplement.

Squalene is one of the worst things I've ever smelled (BIO Lab). I can't imagine ingesting it.
