So I want to get a pair of Spring Court G4s from the Steven Alan website. I wear an 11 1/2, however they only have even sizes for 10-12. Does anyone know of another website that may stock the size I need? If not, should I size up or down? I'd rather have a tight shoe that I can wear in rather than clown-shoes, however I don't know how these shoes fit. Anyone?

Also, does anyone have opinions on these shoes? Are they well-made? I need a pair of white sneakers that I can beat the hell out of and these look like as good an option as any. I've also been looking at some stuff from Common Projects but seriously, the prices are a little much for me unless it had awesome styling like the Y-3 line.

I saw the Springcourt G2 featured in a Esquire Top 10 list of must-have things. They had various other luxuries like Tiffany cufflinks and Patek watches on there. They were definitely sold on the shoe, but I'm not sure if that applies to the G4 as well or if it even has any weight because it's just from a magazine but I thought I would mention it.

I have a pair in green canvas that I got from Stel's. They are very comfortable but the rubber sole wears out like a madman. If you're looking for something a bit different that the standard Chucks, they are a good bet.

I have the canvas G2 lowcuts. I sized down to a 42 and they were impossibly tight for about a week before they stretched enough to be comfortable. I used a cheap plastic shoe tree from Container Store to help stretch them overnight. The size up looked a little clownish on me. As mine are white canvas, I managed to get them pretty dirty pretty quickly. I think that they're well put together and the packaging is nice. And they're French! Oh, and the G4 Punched Leather are certainly nicer than the canvas ones, they seem to age better.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
