Sprezzatura in Cinema

Sprezzatura is a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it. In cinema is has been captured beautifully by directors such as Anthony Minghella, Federico Fellini and Tom Ford who were/are all strongly influenced by Italy where Sprezzatura originates.

For me it is an effortless mastery of ones own style, a studied carelessness that veils the work needed to create it. It is the very essence of compelling, stylish cinema and can be watched time after time. Sprezzatura Cinema will never grow old, its spirit will never be dimmed, it will forever be inspiration to those who can see beauty.

The background music are "I've Got You Under My Skin" by Frank Sinatra, the beautiful choral piece "I Lie" by David Lang (from La Grande Bellezza) and La Dolce Vita Blues by Nino Rota. The movie scenes are from The Rat Pack (1998), The Talented Mr Ripley (1999), A Single Man (2009), La Grande Bellezza (2013), La Dolce Vita (1960) and 8 1/2 (1963).
