Spots on leather shoes

Hello all,
Do you know what could cause spots like these on calf? The shoes are from Vass and have been worn a couple of times. I'm wondering if they're natural marks like scars or if they occurred through some negligence of mine. I did apply some cream polish but it didn't help.

This is probably something with its origins in the tannery.

You might be able to use a deer bone to smooth it. I think the back of a spoon should work too.

I've never seen that happen to calf, but I've seen bumps like that happen on shell cordovan when it gets wet. Somehow, the moisture gets trapped right beneath the skin. When this happens with shell cordovan, you can smooth it out with the back of a spoon and with a lot of brushing with a horsehair brush (no cream or conditioner). I don't recommend using a deer bone. For one, deer bones are only intended to be used on waxed calf. Second, the small imperfections on the bone can scratch your leather.

It does look similar to cordovan spots, so the above advice seems appropriate. In any event they are not terribly obvious.

So basically, in your opinion, those marks were on the leather originally?

As all of you pointed out, they do look very similar to these cordovan spots:
