I was just thinking about this.

The usual answer is that navy is the most versatile, but then when I think about how I'm going to incorporate it with my outfit it doesn't seem as versatile.

A navy blazer with dark blue / navy jeans will kinda look like a uniform. With black jeans/slacks is doable I guess, but black and navy is not the best color combination. It will probably look better with gray or cream jeans/slacks, but that's about it. A gray or cream/cement blazer actually seems more versatile.

Thoughts?

I'm not opposed to it. As usual, if it fits well and you wear it comfortably it will look fine.

Get a black or grey slim fitting jacket from a fashion brand. Make sure it isn't too long. Wear with white tee, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Check out Uniqlo's website, some great fitting pieces in a range of colors for about $100. If you wanna drop a little more, Rag and Bone has some really high quality pieces for reasonable prices ($300-ish).
