Sportcoats (fabric) that go with cotton pants?

I believe the above from L. Barbera website shows a cotton on cotton ensemble.

What sportcoats go with cotton pants, ie. grey, khaki.

I think wool or higher sportcoats look horrid with cotton/linen pants.

Can cotton?
Linen?

Best to keep the Sportcoat and pants of the same material?

wool works depending on the type/texture, e.g., super 150s

Tweed can go nicely, for a rustic effect, though I tend to reach for cords/other trousers first.

I think cotton pants go with anything except heavy winter materials. I think cotton can look good with wool, cashmere, etc., as long as the material is light weight and the cotton pants are good quality.

I think you could pull a wool blazer with cotton khakis as long as the pants were nice and the colors were matched OK.
