Sport Jacket vs suit jacket......

I dont see a difference only that the suit jacket has a buddy and the sport jacket does not. This does not mean though that when I wear a suit jacket I wear its pants I will wear it with another set of trousers also for casual wear.

Seems there is no hard right or wrong to this equations of the difference of them except some buttons. Length, fit, etc. are the same on both for me that I have if you were to seperate them by name.

So is there truely a difference?

What are the differences beyond what the average person would notice? A lot of blazers have brass buttons, but I just got one with horn buttons, so the difference is much more subtle. If someone were to get a suit jacket made with horn buttons, then what would the difference be?

If you swapped out a solid navy orphaned jacket and changed the buttons to horn, it would be difficult to tell if was a suit jacket and not a blazer. That wasn't the OP's question though.

It seems the traditional brass buttons, more "casual" fabric, and looser fit has slipped away. When I look online or go to a store, the sports coats are mostly indistinguishable from the suit coats. There are still the loud fabrics on some and some with brass buttons but many look like what I would have called orphaned suit coats not long ago. I think "sports coat" when I see patch pockets on the coat but that seems to be a common feature of many suits these days.
Those lines we think should not be crossed aren't paint but seem to be chalk lines and as such they keep getting wiped away and moved around.

The differences between a suit jacket and a sport jacket are in the fabric design/pattern, details, lining, cut, etc, but I think in the end it all comes down to your personal fashion standards. Who would argue those???!!

thats a good point hahaha...heres the thing how many of us are gonna actually see each other in 'face to face' if I was going to see any of you guys face to face then NO I would not wear a suit jacket without his buddy the pants hahaha...in fact if I was gonna go out to drink with anyone here I would first measure my cuff length to expose half a inch, every move I make I will make sure my suit does not wrinkle, so that means certain moves I wont do it, then I will make sure my socks dont show while walking, and make sure my suit is NOT too tight looking....all in the pleasure of SF members to please them. Oh I cant forget the last criteria make sure my suit is 5k price range hahahha.....


No really the average does not even notice if you have wear navy suit jacket without its pants......if someone did notice I would say, 'hey you must visit SF forums hahaha...'

This. Also, wearing a suit jacket without the matching trousers is not the best idea. You want the fade and wear patterns to match.
