Finally got some ok pics with my new charcoal tweed suit separates (unaltered, my tailor is on vacation right now). I love it but noticed the cut felt a little different than my other suits from previous seasons. Seems to be a higher trouser rise, Which I love! However the jacket feels more slim fit than contemporary, this is fine because I need contemporary for the pants but could go with either for the jacket. Specifically the waist feels more snug, and it just ~feels~ shorter in the body although it only looks like maybe 0.5 inch shorter at most. I took pictures with my favorite S&M suit jacket too, a Guabello medium grey, to compare fit, and I feel the difference more than I see it. When I first tried this tweed jacket on I thought I might want to send it back for a 42L instead of 42R, but I think I'll be ok with it unless anyone really thinks I should switch. I love the fabric on this, great texture, springy, a little stretch to it, and only 1/4 lined! It's definitely filling out my need for a fall/winter suit.

Too short. I'd get the long version.

Not necessarily true! It’s a known issue and Rick is aware of it. The good news is, it does fix itself but takes a few wash for that to happen.

Agreed, but the shirt collar as depicted in his photos would indicate that it is too large.

Got you, I was just stating that it’s a known issue regardless of fit. I’ve experienced it on a couple shirts but not all of them.

has anybody done an mtm shirt where you send in a shirt and have them copy its design?

not the measurements, but the design.

i've got a shirt i'd love to have completely copied top to bottom in design, but made with the measurements i'd specify. curious if anybody has tried anything like this and what it cost.

If I'm a 38 slim jacket, would I wear a small or medium sweater?

38 contemporary (I’m 5’11”/160 38 chest/15 neck/34.5 sleeve/32 waist), I wear medium in the v neck, turtleneck, and cardigan. They’re definitely a slim fit

So like a Brooks Brothers shirt with the 6 pleat shirring? This is a very intriguing option... I have no knowledge of this, though. I'm interested to hear opinions/experience.

Same question. I almost pulled the trigger on these yesterday and then the gray flannel restock email hit last night and I couldn't order those fast enough. Wondering how similar they are in the wild?
I have the mint green jacket. It does look a bit grey in certain lighting.

I’ll agree on the belt loops being an issue, but even if the SKU is the same, there can be variation in different dye lots. The mid gray VBC jacket from last year that S&M accidentally sent me was a slightly different shade than the mid gray of this year’s pants, even though the fabric was the same. I wouldnt be upset about the variation unless it was specifically advertised as suit separates.
Hmm that makes sense to me.

I didn't even think or know about batch variations, and I'd wager the average consumer doesn't either.

It's reasonable to expect some kind of heads up from customer service before putting the order through if someone orders the same SKUs for trousers and a jacket.

I'd have expected the fabrics to be the same from chomsky's POV as well.
