How are the peacoats fitting? I’ve only seen one posted here. Went with the same sportcoat size during the outerwear sale

Size up on the peacoats if you plan to wear a sportcoat or chunky sweater underneath. Take sportcoat size if you plan to wear minimal clothing underneath.

I wore my E Thomas rust check Neapolitan sport coat to work the other day. It looked so good I didn’t want to leave the house. I wanted to stay home and make love to myself.

Oversharing. I know.

Good morning everyone!

I have come across Spier & McKay for the first time browsing online and also through youtube via a video from the Parisian Gentleman who said this company is one of the best values for one's money out there. So I looked at the website and I really like some of the designs for sportcoats, but I am unfortunately somewhat tall and ticker built and it seems that Spier & McKay does not produce in my size by default and that I would probably need to go down the made to measure route. I am 6.3 ft tall and around 250 pounds without any large tummy but a pretty broad chest section. Its a total pain in the neck for me to find anything that fits from a designer company - let alone something that I like - because I usually need a 48L or 50L depending on the cut of the sportcoat/suit/pants. I usually roll with Polo Ralph Lauren, but I am just not able to dish out tons of cash for Purple Line stuff although that often hits my sartorial sensibilities right on the spot.

So My question...do I need to go down the MTO route if I want something from Spier & McKay in the future? If so, what would you recommend? Flying to Toronto and getting an apointment and being properly measured by them and or do it by myself and or my usual alterations tailor here in Washington DC? How is the quality of Spier and McKay overall? I think they do half-canvas only, no? How does that affect the longevity of their garments? Any other tips and advice is welcome since I am totally new to this company and their products.
Welcome to the thread! A couple of answers: Full canvas is an option for +$150 CAD. Sounds worth it to me. And making an appointment in TO would get you the best results. Reach out to @induere_to on this forum. He’s Timothy, the custom orders guru for the company. Great knowledge and dedication to achieving your particular style with each order.

Wait, what? Do they offer full canvass for all their sportcoats in all sizes for an additional CAD150?

(edit: replying to @saskatoonjay’s bizarre comment of self love.)

post 43395 has a picture of it, it looks significantly lighter in that picture than on the website, I'd love to hear if anyone has experience otherwise as I like the color on the website, but not on that picture.

That picture looked overexposed to me. I ordered the green harris tweed check and had to return it because the shoulders on the jacket I got were cut too wide but the fabric and color were gorgeous. Lemme see if I have a pic

ETA: yes found a pic. Please excuse the bathroom selfy and the batman boxers lol. Should provide a good depiction of the color though.
