I’m personally more worried about the shoulder width- the 40L looks like the length would be good, but my shoulders measure 17”- the 38R is pretty much a dead on fit, so I’m worried the 18.1” would be too much
Totally agree with spier on this one; I'm a solid 38L (with shortened sleeves), but I stick to 38R for the best compromise. I've got a 40; you won't like the way it ends out unless you plan on a thick layer underneath.

Guys who have the chalk stripe suits: are you cuffing the trousers, or hemming them straight?
I bought the navy chalk stripe and will use it as a business suit. I haven't cuffed trousers on a biz suit since the millennium (!) and am disinclined to resume now... unless the side tabs and neo cut of the jacket would warrant doing so. Thoughts? @induere_to ? (maybe I can snag a free style consult from Tim)

Bought it yesterday and it's with the SM tailor getting 2" cuffs. If you are going to do it on a suit this is definitely the one to do it with.

Just ordered three oxfords, hope I don't get the dreaded out of stock (they were all limited when I clicked on them).

I really need to fabricate a reason to grab one of the polo coats in Florida, they're incredible!

Stick with the 38R. The shoulder is the most important part of the fit. To go from the 38R to 40L is opening a can of worms in terms of fit. The proportions are all different. How much more length are you looking for?

Thanks for the feedback- preferably a half inch to an inch. Like @madhat, 38L with shortened sleeves would probably be ideal, so I'm interested in the MTM program.

If you are asking Tim, then it's a yes. Now go put a fat 2" bad boy on them and strut like a Peacock.
I will put a 2" cuff on them. With the linen trousers I got from S&M I went with 2.25" cuff.

in my opinion (and because i bought the suit too and will be doing so) is that if you were gonna cuff anything this would be it.

Hang tight buddy. We're almost at the finish line with that. I've learned 2-3 months in web developer speak is, it'll get done when it's done.

@spiermackay are suit trouser swaps not available during BF sale? I ordered a 42R contemp suit and requested a size 38 trouser swap, but was informed that a trouser swap is not available even though the 44R suit is available.

Soktas. Like Butter.

Was looking at a couple of those on the site for my next batch. Are there fabrics (Soktas or otherwise) that are available in store/warehouse but not listed on the site?

anyone have a suggestion if I wear 30 waist slim in bonobos chinos or 31 waist in 770 j crew what the equivalent SM fit would be? Otherwise I can bust out the measuring tape. Thanks!
