Just received the blue sport coat (not Model 2). Very impressed but wondering whether I should size down from 38 to 36, given the shoulders. Anyone have any thoughts based on the following pics?

@Feelgoodfit it looks a little snug in the waist already, and if that's the case going down to 36 won't help. How's the fit in the chest and waist? I don't know how much you'd be able to let out in those areas if you go down to a 36 to accomodate your shoulders.

Looks like you have both heavily sloping and broad shoulders. Sizing down will make everything more fitted and I'm worried the sleeve at the cap will not be wide enough and you will still have the dimple in the shoulder. This particular cut may not be right for your physique. Do you have other OTR jackets that fit you well without dimpling at the shoulders?

I have a Paul Betenly suit which fits great, but that said, I recently tried a Betenly blazer (same size 38) and had the exact same dimpling issue. Have a couple of Jack Victor suits which do not have the dimpling but have shoulders which, while ok, are a little more structured than I would like. Very disappointing as I truly hoped S&M would fit the bill for me. Great jacket.

Assuming there is no S&M option/solution, I have no idea at this point what brands/cuts I should try. Plus, I am in St. John's where there are limited physical store options.

I agree that a 36 would not be the answer.

You most likely need a suit which has a wide, more generous shoulder. It's not how wide the shoulders are but more how wide the shoulder cap is front to back to accommodate a larger shoulder and tricep. We have been gathering this feedback and have already started on sampling an "Athletic" cut as we see a lot of this in our custom program. Don't have a solid timeline on this though. May make it available in our Made-to-Order program though as early as Fall.

I know J.Crew introduced the Crosby Jacket to fix their issue with the Ludlow in the same respect.

Nice to hear about the athletic cut. Will it also feature a larger drop? 8" would be brilliant.

So finally here are my photos of the blue sportcoat I received a month or two back. I'm 6'2" and about 165-170 lbs. I had to get the sleeves lengthened, but otherwise I think it fits well. The colour might be a bit darker in real life, but it is certainly bright enough for people to notice it's not your usual navy jacket (although I find the description on the tag in my last photo interesting)..

I will never again complain about a photo someone tried to take of themselves. I thought I was a decent photographer, but it's hard trying to take a photo of an outfit yourself! I should really just set up a tripod and timer.

Is the shirting available for MTM limited to what is on the website, or would there be more swatches to flip through if I went in person? I ordered my first shirt in person recently, but I went in knowing which fabric I wanted from the website, and admittedly didn't look around much.
