Some great posts and advice, thanks guys. Will post a picture of the slim fit shirt soon to show you the bunching.

MellonC, thanks for the pic. Sure, it looks great (it's a good Middleground between fits. There is slight bunching everywhere, which makes it comfortable and good looking). As I said, I believe I'm in between a extra slim and slim..., Yet all the bunching is at the hips. if I could go in the middle with a Spier choice I wouldn't hesitate, but they don't do it (unless MTO). I'm a big fan of Daniel Craig, but you have to put things into perspective also. Depending on the film or period, he wears classical stuff (casino Royale) and extra slim stuff (more recent films).
Honestly I like Spier shirts because for the first time I have full range of motion, I can seriously move my arm up and point hand to the sky and the shirt barely moves, that's why I'm not shocked with the fit of my current shirt. Also, I'm not James Bond, I don't run , jump in my suit. Probably most active thing I do with it is reach for the coffee cup and bring it to my mouth :D
However, I am sensitive to others comments, that body does change ( an added parameter to shrinkage!). I still fit in an old suit I got 7years ago.. my body hasn't changed much, and kind of got used to that but I realise things can change (and accelerate) as we age... :(
Honestly, at 60$ a pop, Spier allows us tou upgrade shirts without breaking the bank... I still have a very nice OTR shirt that I paid 150eur (225cad!) for and wore... Once. Actually, I kind of cringe at the thought of putting it on again these days and realizing it's too roomy and armholes very low...

Tell me. Do you think the shirt that this dude is wearing is ill fitting, meaning too big on him? I guess what I’m saying is that typical shirt fabric has no “give.” Thus, it’s ok to have bunching up in the sides like this 007 guy. Otherwise things will pull in every which way you turn, reach, twist and such. It may look OK if you are going to standing around and not move but kinda bad when you are chasing international spies and criminals

Did you keep the wheat hopsack jacket? If so, could you post a couple of more pictures of the fabric?

Can anyone speak to the differences, if any, between the Huddersfield and Minnis fresco fabrics?

I didn’t end up keeping the jacket. The fabric is beautiful but I wasn’t completely happy with the fit.
Unfortunately, this is the best picture I have. The fabric has wonderful texture.

@spiermackay Check your html/CSS attributes for "How to Measure" on product pages.

If one navigates to a product, then to "Size and Fit Guide," and then to "How to Measure," the link does not forward properly (eg, click on Medium Wash Denim shirt product. Clicking on "How to Measure" doesn't redirect; the url destination is also incorrect: https://www.spierandmackay.com/medium-wash-denim-button-down.html#)

Feel free to PM me if this is unclear.

Ok here goes for comparisons between 15.5 extra slim (white shirt) and 15.5 slim (stripe shirt) both in 36 sleeve length. Both shirts washed once, cold water hang dry (not ironed, felt lazy).
One pic is tucked properly and next one is after having reached for ceiling (or climbed up an crane if still in James Bond mode :)

Although I’m always reluctant to base fit recommendations off of a recognized “sex symbol” ( Brad Pitt manages to look good in his terribly-fitting suits in Oceans 11) I think there is a difference between a shirt worn casually (street wear) and one worn with a suit or a sport coat. I tend towards very little fabric at the waist for shirts I mean to wear under a suit or sport coat. And it seems Daniel Craig (or rather his stylists) agree: here he is after removing his suit jacket :

@eskimomo I think both are fine. The 38R, once you shorten the sleeve and take in the jacket, it will look much better.

I did the same to my jacket and it looks great. I would take a picture but I been in sweat pants for 2 weeks

IMO pictures from behind are much more important when deciding on slim vs extra slim generally. Fabric on sides from teh front profile can be telling but the lower back is where it's at.
