^^^ Have you actually seen any of the product in person, or are you just blowing hot air? It would take a truly special fool to believe they are representing themselves to be a Kiton equivalent. Ridiculous indeed.

I also see a slim fit shirt...how does that compare to contemporary fit? Sorry but I didn't see any mention of slim in the guide area, just classic and contemporary.

    Hi CousinDonuts (Great name BTW)

Slim fit approx. 2" slimmer in the chest and waist. A few posts back I attached a full size chart for slim. I think it can be found in images of this thread as well. A new size chart, should be up online by tomorrow.

In the meantime, are there any specific sizes that you require specs of?

    Rick

Quick cell phone photo of the contemporary shirt in action so you guys can see how a tie looks with it. I personally love the semi spread collar in this shirt. Today is the first wearing and I will post a full review later after a day of wear.

    Hi Gents,

We're about to purchase a new round of Custom Shirt Fabrics. Just looking for input from forum members if there is anything specific we should pick up. You can see what we currently have here: http://www.spierandmackay.com/made_to_measure.php

We have a luxury group of white coming next week. As soon as they are in, I'll get some pics up.

We are always looking for feedback so we can bring you exactly what you've been looking for.

    Cheers,
    Rick

I was in at the shop today. The jacket I tried on, the lightest grey they currently have, felt very well made for the price ($318, on sale from 399). I didn't wind up picking up the suit, as I had some shoulder dimples (damned sloping shoulders!). If I had normal shoulders I would have bought it as an everyday suit.

I also bought trousers and three shirts. No issues with the seams on the trousers even when sitting down. I have large thighs and calves, but I could still fit into their slim fit. Amazing material and fit for $80.

I've bought several shirts from them in the past. The fabrics I got are great - very comfortable and substantial-feeling for the ~60-70 I paid per shirt (waiting for sales). The material isn't as nice as the one Eton shirt I have, but would estimate that the fabrics are on par with Hugo Boss shirts I have and are substantially better than anything that I have found for MTM in Toronto at this price point.

MOP buttons are coming soon. Current buttons are shell - very, very white shell - which I actually think look a lot better than most yellowish MOP.

I also bought their off-the rack in the past. Great price for the quality offered. I found the arms to be long, but that's probably because I have short T-Rex arms. Every jacket I buy needs to have the sleeves shortened substantially. I have a blue OCBD that gets complements.

The only beef I have with the company is that I would like to see more staple CBD offerings - too bad I didn't see the shirt fabric request above. I would expect 6 choices of white and 6 choices of light blue custom fabrics, given the fact that white and blue are the business essentials. Same for ties. I would like more conservative ties is conservative widths (3 5/8 or 3 1/2). I bought a tie from them before that was a dark brown seven-fold. I is one of the nicest I have. Feels butter and ties a beautiful knot. Seems extra long, though. I'm still waiting for grenadine offerings - although my grenadine stable is growing while I wait.

Rick (the main man there) is passionate about the product and knows it inside and out. He asked me if I wanted interlining on the collar of my shirt today - the last inexpensive MTM tailor I worked with at this price point didn't even ask what cut of collar I wanted. I consistently see an older gentleman around when I am in the shop who never seems to be working too hard. I assume this is the father he is speaking of.

Point Taken! We actually have about 15 new fabrics in predominately white and blue coming to us next week. Already booked some more basic stripes and checks as well. Bengal stripes, hairlines, micro checks, that sort of stuff.

Indeed the older gent is the Patriarch of this operation. Don't let his quiet observations fool you. Though he isn't involved so much in the front end of the shop, he is a huge driving force in this business and one of the reasons the model works so efficiently. He has been invested into the apparel trade since 1971 and his expertise in production and logistics is second to none. We are very lucky to have that brain to tap into!

Should be out to 18 designs by fall, including some great POW checks and Staple Flannels.

OCBD cloth has been ordered in a few solids and stripes. Should have them in a couple of weeks! Make sure you're on the newsletter list as we'll announce them when in.

    Cheers,
    Rick

As a Canadian, I look forward to some more fabric options in the coming months for both shirts and trousers.

Rick, I think you know what the SF community craves for shirting fabrics. For trousers, I would like to see some brown and green tones once the staple colours have proven themselves. Multiple off-white shades would be particularly great in the short term considering the season.

I'd love to grab some trousers right now but I've got my standard colours already.

Quick review of my order. I got a shirt and pair of pants.

Pants - I am not a pants snob by any means. I have some custom, some Lands End, and over the years several in between. These are maybe not as soft as more expensive fabrics, but are definitely nicer than the lower end stuff. I'd say it matches the price point perfectly. I did not see any construction issues. The color was true to the website picture.

They are definitely slim. There is not much play in the thighs. If you don't like it tight in the seat, I would suggest you go up a size. I ordered my normal size, the same size I have used for every pant I have purchased since college. The seat area is a little tighter than I like. I don't have a big booty but these give me just a bit of a wedgie. Since I am in the US, it will cost me the same amount to tailor as it would to exchange, so looks like we'll see how much can be taken out.

Shirt - I ordered the slim cut, and it is definitely slim. This is the first non-MTM shirt I have purchased in 3 years. The body of the shirt fits very close to how I have them made, so I am pleased.

    Hi Notreknip,

Appreciate the feedback. We always have our eyes and ears open to what our customers are looking for. Re: Shirts were you looking for OTR or Custom Fabrics? We have just booked about 20 new basic business dress fabrics that should be rolling into our custom program very soon. We also have a group of more conservative OTR shirts arriving this week. Re: Trousers, this was our first season into OTR trousers so we played it safe with a lot of basic stuff. Mostly to gauge fit and quality feedback before we move forward. We do have some interesting things planned for fall. That said, we are also working on online custom trouser option for the near future that will open up the range considerably.

    Rick.
