@SpierTeam Writing to commend you all on a superb job in creating this navy blazer: https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/dark-navy-serge-sportcoat-9850-sc01. It is by far my favorite non-Neo sportcoat. I sized up to a 40L contemporary and the drape, silhouette, lapel roll, lapel width are just so good. What I appreciate most is you all nailed the shoulder construction: it’s softly constructed and non-padded yet gives a roped and slightly extended shoulder effect.
This looks great but I'm not familiar with serge. Is it more casual or formal? Versatile pairing with a wide range of trousers? Versatile seasonally? Thanks in advance.

Serge is a type of twill wool that's perfect for your typical security guard look (e.g., blue blazer and gray trews), prep, or country club outfit, a la Ralph Lauren and others. For the last month, I've paired it with grey fresco trews, sometimes dressed up with a tie, but most often worn with an unbuttoned Italian collar bd shirt. The still twill effect helps in distinguishing it from looking like an orphaned suit coat, as do the patch pockets. I live in LA and have worn it in 90-degree weather on down to cool LA nights; it transitions easily. I want to pair it with covert wool trews, and i think it'll take to them well; so also with flannel trews. They really nailed it with this one. I don't usually go for non-neo sportcoats, but the lapel roll, width, and drape are classic and made this one a keeper for me. If you don't have the standard classic blue blazer in your wardrobe, I recommend picking this one up.

You're the man! Out of my size in the SB but I'm really eyeing the DB. Would my first DB. Thanks!

Anyone else order one of this seasons Shetland sweaters and notice that the hem is a lot looser than last years version? Seems to have the pretty similar dimensions elsewhere, but hem is approx 2 inches wider (size L). A shame because some of the colors this year are really nice, but this kinda kills it. @SpierTeam is this expected or did I just one out of spec?

Did you get a solid or cable knit Shetland? This is my first time getting them so I can’t comment on any changes from last year, but I did notice the cable Shetlands definitely have a looser hem than the solids. I don’t find the solid hems to be too loose personally.

I got it in a solid, it might still be workable after a wash which should hopefully tighten it up, but still not ideal. Good to know about the cable knits being even looser, I'll likely avoid those.

Do you guys find the shetlands a little too scratchy? Was gonna soak it in woolite to try to soften it up a bit.

Anybody here have interest in two pairs (1 light grey, 1 mid-grey) of NWOT Minnis flannel trousers in 35 Contemp? This is the older/oldish block with less of a seat scoop and slightly slimmer legs.

Was FINALLY putting thought to getting them tailored, and was reminded of how unpleasant that old block was for my frame. Doable, but suboptimal.

@SpierTeam will more high rise denim in traditional dark indigo washes be coming in? I really like the fit, price point, and wearability of the last round of high rise. Please keep making them! The darker the wash and higher rise the better.
