Balmacaan is available. I passed on it last year (now I am regretting). This year is available in dark charcoal, and charcoal/red one that looks great too. There is another variation that looks to me the same style in more "grey" color which I read as more versatile. My wardrobe is mainly browns navy olive, and I can not decide which one to pick, knowing that I will only buy one of these style coats

For reference, the light grey is not a Balmacaan according to Spier.

There are a few differences with length (1" shorter) the armhole, armhole depth, bottom opening and I believe the back venting as well. Hence, it's called a belted overcoat. Apparently Cucinelli and some other fashion forward brands do something similarly.

If you (or someone else) is a size 40 and wants a light grey balmacaan from prior seasons, I have one for sale. It's the Zanieri version from FW19 sans belt. Unfortunately, I require a size 42. So I'm looking to sell or trade mine for a larger size.

Let it out? My coat has enough fabric reserve to go one size up
It won't work, unfortunately. I require wider sleeves, back and shoulders. Waist and sleeve length are the only two things that are fine.

Been hitting the gym as of lately after +15 years absence, and as such have put on some muscles. Thus, I'll have to let go of several SCs, suits and overcoats. Many if them being MTO/RTW Spier Mackay items unfortunately.

My favorite spier jacket had that, I shopped around, went to different tailors some that even do full bespoke, quoted 200$ to finish the sleeves with functional buttons. So I decided to just get them sewn on to a non functional one, I understand your concern. I paid I think 20 our less

There’s long sizes. I don’t think that’s the reason. They used to call this their emerald line, higher end cloth, ability to make functional sleeves, mileanses button etc. making this a rather luxury item compared to their other offerings
If so they sold out of Ls faster than I've ever seen...

Looking forward to folks posting pics!

Fox is usually an expensive fabric, so Rick only stocks popular sizes when he brings more expensive fabrics.

He wasn't even open to bringing this jacket in to begin with when I first suggested it to him two years ago because of the price. I started some kind of petition here and asked everyone interested in the jacket to send him a message and express their interest. Apparently it panned out, lol.

My Balmacaan has a lot of fabric in the back seam, around 5 cm. With raglan sleeves it's more forgiving for a shoulders size. No idea about the seam allowance in the sleeves, though

Does anyone know if 5-pocket cords are coming? I see a lot of corduroy dress trouser options (and ordered a pair) but what I really need are something more casual.

If they do I’m hoping they actually fit as intended. I think last 2 times they tried them they were 2 sizes too small somehow

So I’ve always wanted a pair of medium gray flannel trousers, but always wait too long.

I see S&M have a pair of Marling & Evan’s flannel trousers for sale, would you folks say M&E would likely be better than VBC for flannel trousers?

Quality wise, yes, no question. Practically, it depends on which fabrics we're talking about.

Here are two posts I made on the matter a year ago if that helps.

This is live. I am almost ready to pull the trigger on this unnecessary and redundant, but beautiful piece of art of a purchase. However, the unfinished sleeves feature is really taking a lot of wind out of my sails. The extra work of going to a local tailor and getting my wallet even more lighter seems like a real extra hurdle. It's annoying enough to get trousers hemmed, but a RTW jacket? Kind of takes it more like NQRTW. Is this a new thing? @SpierTeam can you please advise? Otherwise you would have taken my money!
Personally I think such a nice SC deserves functioning buttonholes.
