Looks a bit short, would probably go 40 L classic or 42L slim
Yeah now that I look at pics again, a little short, especially the front view the way the quarters are cut. I think 40L contemporary. Don't think they make 42L slim.

Really? I thought the “rule” was the back should cover your butt and the front should end at the base knuckle of your thumb. In the pictures both of these are the case is it not? I’ve tried on a long in another brand and the front felt far too long.

Could just be the picture too, but it just looks disproportionate. It makes your legs look super long, and your torso short. Yes the jacket should cover your butt, but you have to keep proportions in mind.

A longer jacket would to mitigate the whole “woman’s jacket” look also.

Ok I see what you mean, especially on the front view. My pants are also unhemmed so that could be throwing things off.

I’m not the most knowledgeable, and probably a bit less “classic” than many in this thread, but I think it looks good.

to my eyes, the classic pants fit and slim jacket fit is what making things look off. I think the length of the jacket is fine from the front but related to the angle of the picture, I prefer mine to hit the start of pants rise. 40R contemporary (or less sure 40L).

For folks who’ve bought denim from Spier, how are you liking them? Mostly concerned about fit since there’s some nice looking pairs on final sale. I usually take a 30 slim in their chinos and trousers, but wanted to know if that’s wise for their denim as well?

Bonus points if anyone has photos of the one or two year wash for reference.
The fit is what most fashion brands would call slim-straight or slim-with some taper. I have the two-year wash in 31 contemporary from the first batch (picture below) and I quite like the fit.

I just wish the fabric was a bit heavier, the area along the zipper looks like it won't hold for a lot longer.
I also tried the high rise in off-white but the fit was too slim for my taste. The fabric was better than the two- year wash. I think the first batch was less than 12 oz. compared to the stated 12 oz. of the more recent batches and that's why it feels a bit lightweight.

These look very nice. I just purchased a pair of 30 slims in the same wash, which is my usual spier and mackay fit. Kind of wish I’d gone for the contemporary after seeing this pic.

Thanks

I think the bastings + slim waist + high fastening point combine to hug your butt and create some illusion of shortness. I'm also 170, 6'0 and have been happy with 40R contemporary.
