People: We want product photos to better display the products! Please S&M listen!
Also people when they start doing what people asked:

No wonder S&M isn’t on here anymore, there’s no winning. Yes the styling may not be great, but at least they’re trying to show you the garment on.

Ok I really not looking at the styling it doesn’t matter … how the product is draping, how the images look in front of the background, I don’t know if it is heavily edited or something but just doesn’t look real and this is the preview photo before you actually open up the product (which does improve the situation). I know they are trying to improve the site and kudos for them on this major step.

You want them to get credit for doing something really, really badly that thousands of other clothing sellers do well?

I had been wanting the site to add photos of how their clothes look when actually worn, but they honestly don't look that great. I can't tell if that's just how their suits are supposed to look, or if the model is wearing a suit that's too big for them.

Spier sportcoats pants and suits are my favorite. I have been essentially phasing out all my wardrobe to spier stuff in the last couple of years. They look amazing in my opinion when worn but of course it differs from one person to another. I would say if you haven’t tried them before give it a shot, excellent value for money. I don’t understand why the model photos look like this …

Also, holy crap does Spier make more money more than I think? I mean the way they're rolling out more and more designs to recycle trends from 2-3 years ago rather than investing in good photography and volume production for a core collection of staple and seasonal fabrics/cuts, it just doesn't seem like they're worried about not selling through multiple entirely new designs until deep clearance season. (venting at seeing forward pleated trousers only to realize there's a hollywood waistband that nobody asked for)

Ordered myself a pair of the sand colored all-linen Hollywood trousers during the recent sale. Was interested in them for a while - sale pushed me to go for it...plus the impending Spring/Summer sunshine.

I expect I'll get them in about 10 days or so.

Anyone have any IRL pics wearing these?

So, CS confirmed the above: "Apologies for the delay the copywriter had to go through their notes provided from the mill to find that information. They let me know that all of these products use the same type of fabric from Spence Bryson, with a weight of 260 grams/metre. The website copy should be updated to reflect this information shortly."

However, I hadn't considered the above terminology disconnect as pertains to SB, which does track with the aforementioned discussion and, based on the explicit "heavier weight" callout, I'm inclined to think that may be right and Spier's copyright team may not be hip to the nuance. I can't imagine thinking a 9oz linen as heavy.

So, what do we think: should I be the guinea pig and test out our hypothesis?

And, happily enough, it seems gatekeeping fabric weight is no longer an official policy, so kudos to SM for heeding the whining from us weirdos!
Ok, I'll be the lab rat. Will report back findings whenever it arrives.

so I like the color of this suit but did not buy based on one of the member's comments on the weight.
This suit has a weight of 235 and they describe it as spring summer lightweight, and the one you are referring to from Spencer is 260 and described as heavier weight 3 seasons. It is gotta be heavier. keep us posted

Recently needed to buy a suit for an event and ended up in Suit Supply (I’m in London) and wanted something under £1000 and reasonable quickly.

The experience made me think of Spier from living in Toronto when they were just starting out.

I fit into a 38L Havana at suit supply with little alterations (little tight upon buttoning but an easy fix) and can manage the new suit supply single pleat trousers in a 32 (others way too tight). Would that make me a 38L in the Neo cut? Contemporary? Apologies if this has been discussed, couldn’t find a specific answer when I searched.

I would say 38L would work. I much prefer Spier’s cut to SuitSupply (especially the contemporary pants.)
