Hey folks looking for some advice on the below blazer. I think it’ll be a nice option for seperates as the Australian summer begins in October. I don’t think I have any trousers that’ll pair so looking for inspiration (I’m thinking Grey or a lighter blue?) - does anyone have any experience with this cut of blazer and any photos of it being worn? I’m not sure whether it’s 3 roll 2 or 3 buttons… or should I just leave it…

hi. very nice blazer! would wear it with grey, blues and greens pants. they still carry neapolitan cut on some of their current selection, i personally love this cut. it looks like a 3 roll 2.

Awesome. I’ll get my tape measure out on some of my comparitive suits and blazers from SuitSupply and hope the measurements are pretty close! Then I’ll need to find a tailor down under I suspect!

It's in the Neopolitan cut so it is a 3 roll 2. I love the Neo cut.

Does anyone have a cotton suit? Thinking about piecing one together as a casual summer suit. How do they breathe? I know it's not linen, just wondering how thick/heavy it might be. Thanks.

In short, they're pretty terrible in all ways. The cottons that are suitable for tailoring are heavy and stiff, and, most importantly for summer, have very tight weaves that restrict airflow. Uncomfortable in a dry heat and makes humid weather all the more unbearable. The one redeeming factor is that they have a more relaxed vibe than tropical wool, especially in colors like like gray or tan, so you can pair it with polos and henleys even, and mine does a cool thing where it picks up some fades in the elbows like on jeans, but overall I find myself reaching for the tropical wool 99% of the time.

Yeah cotton isn’t really great at anything. Linen or wool or both is almost always a better solution

470g is fine and won't read as outerwear. The Minnis is woolen flannel while the VBC is a woolen/worsted hybrid.

The Minnis is a classic flannel featuring traditional woolen characteristics such as a wooly appearance and plush feel. The con with woolen flannels is that they look saggy by the end of the day, particularly around stressed areas such as the knees. They won't hold a crease as well as worsted fabrics. Generally speaking, woolen fabrics tend to wear out faster than woolen fabrics.

The VBC, being a hybrid offers the best of two worlds. It has the looks of a classic woolen from a distance while maintaining the worsted characteristics, such as holding a crease and not looking like pyjamas by the end of the day. But it's not as heavy as the Minnis and upon closer inspection won't look as wooly as you'd expect from a traditional flannel fabric.

I've owned suits in both fabrics and prefer the VBC. However, I wouldn't mind if it was closer to 435g in weight rather than the 370-390g.

With all that being said, the Minnis flannel is a high end fabric and will last you a long time. You can't go wrong with either. Hope thst helps.
Very helpful thanks a lot. Changed my mind, crease is important for me so will wait for the next vbc!

Going to a wedding in September and need a new suit. Thinking peak lapel and double breast. Is that a good idea for a wedding? If yes, any suggestions on fabric and pattern?

I currently have a midnight navy with normal lapels that I could wear, have a navy and a cool double breast navy with stripes. But wanted something new.

Only if you wanna show up like a boss!!! :)

I have this one and I like it a lot. The weight is light enough so it can give good service in a crossover month like September. And it is on a pretty good sale. Seems you like blue - this one is gray but has a blue overcheck - which will be a nice change for you:

That's exactly the one I looked at since I don't have something like that. Unfortunately sold out in size 40.

Hi guys, is anyone having issues with PayPal payment at Spier’s?
I tried multiple devices and always end up with about:blank page.
Have totally no idea how to tackle this.
S&M said, it’s all fine according to them.
I’m quite frustrated, cause I would rather not use a classic payment card method.
Any hints here??
Yep, same. @Ladislav did you find a solution?

Agree with grey .. I almost feel everyone should have a grey suit at some point
If you are building a collection, you may want to consider a brown or a tan suit in summery fabric like linen or high twist and add a wool 280 weight grey suit later, or even better a high twist grey for summer and a charcoal flannel or with chalk stripe for winter!!

nope. Problem is on their end. You may, in case U aim to settle all customs fees upfront, write them and they will issue a PayPal request reflecting on the total amount. But they also said, they would fix the issue….as I see, no success so far.
