It’s situation/jacket specific for me.

Sportcoats- always prefer patch pockets, since it makes the jacket a little more casual

Casual suits (linen, cotton, etc)- prefer patch for same reason as above

Work suits (solid)- prefer flap pockets

Work suits (patterned)- don't really care either way. Currently the only patterned work suit I have (PoW check) has patch.

Black tie- always jetted or none. Always.

My preference for those details on the gray flannel is because that’s kind of the “trad/ivy ideal”- a 3/2 gray flannel suit with patch pockets. The side adjusters is just personal preference (I’ve grown to love them), as is the fabric being from VBC (Fox would’ve been nice, but VBC is a better value for me)

Pretty sure I've seen you say you work a retail job and drive a Hyundai. Just wondering, why do you have a need for "work suits"? :puzzled:

Exactly what kind of car should one drive to earn the privilege of being allowed to wear a suit to work? Boy are you a jerk.

Huh? Nah. Just curious what his job is, since maybe .001% of jobs these days require a business suit for work. And in addition the things I laid out above, there's the name of his blog in his signature: www.overdressedandoverserved.wordpress.com

By the way, when I click that link, Google tells me the connection is not private and the website might be trying to steal my data... :uhoh:

I think most of the people on this forum are the weird guy at work that wears a jacket when it’s not mandatory. We all get “why are you so dressed up?” often. I’m still not sure the best response to that. I usually just say I like sport coats. Maybe someone else has a better response?

Lol. That's certainly not me. And I hope that's no one on this forum. Dressing well is more than wearing nice clothes; it's dressing appropriately.

I am not very knowledgeable of current sumptuary laws. What you said made me a bit anxious about my social standing. Can I wear a business suit if I drive a Subaru?

Really? A Subaru? Psh. You can wear a khaki suit.
