Hi everyone,

I'm looking replace my 10-year-old J.Crew navy sport coat that I've become a little too fat for. My first thought was to go back to J.Crew, but I'm one of the many who "Derek" convinced to try harder. After spending a surprising number of hours reading posts on this site, I decided to try Spier & Mackay. Went to the site, but it turns out they have two looks: core and neo. Are all the positive reviews for one cut in particular? If they are both great fits but for different body types, what would you recommend for someone very narrow shoulders and hips but a protruding gut (a challenging build!).

Thanks!!!

First off, you may want to post in the SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread.
The Neo cut is more generously sized compared to the regular cut. It is also worth noting that there are several Neo cut generations.
Considering your build, you'll most likely need to let out the waist. The Neo cut is slightly roomier all over, so it might be better for you because you'll have more to work with around the waist.
The best would be to order both cuts and check which one works best for you.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
