1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Saw these today in Florida in a wonderfully soft deerskin for $175. Looked very well made actually.

Any thoughts on these from a style or quality standpoint?

Are you talking about the woven flip-flops?

I bought a pair on ebay. I hope they're wonderfully soft deerskin.

As I look closer at these links, they don't have the nice soles I saw. Will hunt for a better pic.

The newer styles have more of an Italian construction.

The problem with deerskin inserts is that they feel sticky and are not as moisture and odor resistant as leather. It's a good buy if you're planning on throwing them out after a season of wear.

They are very comfortable. Under $200 so a season of wear is good enough.

I have the gold cup penny loafer. I love the shoe - it looks great with everything. The quality is a little lacking though. For example, on the footbed, the junction between fore and aft sections of leather was poorly stitched. They are great shoes though, they look great and get complements everywhere - I've even been asked if they are the RL Edrics....

Very comfortable shoes. One issue I found is that they are hot with the lining. Unless you wear them without socks, you might find them too warm for Florida.

Seems to me that the biggest selling point for the gold cup line is gold plated eyelets. Extremely tacky to me, and not worth more than a $5 markup. Although they mark them up $100. (I'll take my gold in coin form not on my shoes.)

Of course, these shoes don't have eyelets so I guess you are paying for $100 for deerskin and memory foam. Unless, the construction is better than their regular line but I doubt it.

Finally got a pair of these to try-dark brown in Venetian style, kind of a dressy loafer. Very comfortable so far. Relatively affordable at $170 a pair. Look to be decently constructed for the price.

Will try them out for a week and share my thoughts.

These are fantastic shoes based on the first days' use. Some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned.
