hi guys,
im looking for adice regarding footware for my wedding day. I'm going to be clad in a traditional black mornig jacket with grey/black striped trouser. I'll also be wearing a ivory waist caot and cravat to match my brides dress, but she has left the shoes up to me. Ive always wanted a pair of spectator shoes but could never think of what i could wear them with. I really love this pair linked below but dont know whether i could pull it off on the day. want to look dapper as possible on the day but am wondering when else i could wear them after the day?
So any advice on whether you guys think its a good purchase all things consider, would be appreciated.

Wear specs' with a suit or SC in fairly informal occasions. Never with morning dress. It's more of a going out shoe.

If this were an informal outdoor wedding and you were wearing a linen suit or something similar, I'd say sure.

Wearing spectators with morning attire is a sartorial anomaly of the most egregious sort.

well chaps thanks for the heads up and advice... it is indeed a formal occasion so i reckon i'll pass on them. Although in saying that, i would love to get a pair of them in a brown/tan combo similar to these below, but what could i wear them with other than a dark brown trouser?

Light brown, tan, cream or white trousers, blue or brown seersucker trousers...just for starters.

If you're still looking for the right shoe to wear with your morning wear, custom dictates that you'd go with a black patent captoe balmoral.

Good luck with the nuptials and congratulations!

If you want to wear them, who cares? Letting other people dictate something as intimate and personal as your wedding is ridiculous.

Only if you don't want to look like an idiot.

Deeming one an "idiot" for the aforementioned offense at their wedding strikes me as priggish and self-serious.

They are nice, but not on your wedding gay.

Your gal may have left shoe choice to you, but has she seen these.

Well, he can wear a lime green tux and a ruffled shirt for all I care, but if he wants the traditional formal look then he can't wear specs. Not priggish, just the way it is.

guys i dont want to start any arguements. I know that its my choice at the end of the day but im just looking for advice to be honest. I am keen on getting a pair in either the brown/tan or brown/white combo and was also looking at getting peoples opinions on what to wear with such a pair of shoes.

thanks again

My advice: Soliciting advice here is a great idea. Letting others dictate every piece of your attire for fear of being thought "an idiot" isn't. If you like spectators, go ahead and wear them. If your guest list is comprised of uptight styleforum members then you might be advised to forgo them.
