I'm planning a trip to Spain in August.

Going with my cousin and my brother. Primarily explore cities, have good food, drink, party and meet women. Honestly don't care about that much about tourist stuff...maybe while walking around stop in a cathedral and take a pic or something.

Not sure I want to deal with Ibiza or not. seems like a hassle.

    However:

    1. During that time is WORLD YOUTH DAY in Madrid. I'm not big on seeing all the religious stuff but it might be cool to see the pope and probably a lot of young people so it might be a good vibe?

    2. La Tomatina is around that time. I think its Aug 31st...may not be able to make that as my cousin already put his time request in. Its also probably going to eat 2 days of vacation time.

    3. Thinking Madrid first (to coincide with world youth day) then Barcelona and maybe one more place...2-3 days each.

    4. Would like to go to a Spanish resort town where other europeans vacation. Beach, yachts, etc...any good places to go? Mallorca any good? Basically where I can see beautiful spanish women in bikinis.

    Suggestions?

I'm wondering for 3rd city if I should do:

    1. Ibiza (is Ibizia really douchey/eurotrash?)

    2. Other beach/island in Spain

    3. 2 day layover in Amsterdam on the way home

I spent two weeks in Spain last August, but I'm not sure I can help: I spent the entire time high in the mountains of the Pyrenees. It was beautiful, and at times cold. I just don't think the rest of Spain is cold in August.

But do spend some time in Madrid and Barcelona, they are magnificent cities. Youth day in Madrid just sounds crowded- a good day to see Barcelona. Madrid has great museums (somehow this seems to be a secret) but my best times there involve going from bar to bar eating tapas, drinking, and talking.

Joy and Kapital are great clubs in Madrid. When I was vacationing there I really thought the food was horrendous.

Ibiza is horrible unless you are a douche on steroids and with 25 grams of coke.

Avoid come in August unless you want to like threated as a cheapo tourist.

    Go to Andalucia instead.

Joy is plenty of real romanian prostitutes looking for an after hour job ( real, I can prove it[IMG] )

I am spending a month in Spain this summer so I am interested to see where this thread goes.

Itinerary is Barca, Pyrenees, across northern Spain/Santander, Leon (maybe), Madrid then Costa Blanca for two weeks. Side trip to Cordoba.

That will involve a lot of driving and trains. So I am wondering what to drop out.

I downloaded all the spain shows from itunes. Bourdain, three sheets, samantha brown and one from Bridget Marquardy (playboy). Probably better to get an idea of what everything looks like. Already bought the "On the Road again series".

    love hot weather.

san sebastian looks nice. Will look into Andalucia. Trying to keep it as simple as possible centered around going to Madrid then Barcelona.

Any fun activities besides drinking and tapas? Soccer games going on? Probably check out a bullfight or something similar. Any cultural shows to recommend?

Ordering the DK "Eyewitness" book...maybe will help plan it out with a map.

One of my friends who is in a position to know loves Granada: you might want to look into fitting that in.

Andalucia is definitely a very nice place. Look into Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba. But Andalucia is really hot, as in next-level-shit hot. Be prepared for that.
