I was in the market for a suit (mid price range), and my two options essentially came down to the BB 1818 line, and the Southwick 120's for H Stockton Atlanta. Just to let you know I have ended up with the Southwick for a number of reasons, and I guess I am looking for confirmation that I have made the right choice. To say my body is an anomaly is a bit of an understatement when it comes to finding suits. I grew up a swimmer, and developed as most swimmers do with a lot up top, and not much around the waist. I typically have to go with around a 48R in a jacket to give myself enough room across the chest and in the shoulders, and always have to have the slacks recut to fit my waist. H Stockton was able to order the Southwick suit to my specifications without having to do Suit Separates (for some odd reason I can't put my finger on, I've never been a fan of separates) or dropping well above my budget for MTM (ONE DAY!). So considering my options did I make the right choice between the two?

I think you did, you picked the suit that fits you best. I don't like the SouthWick For STP, they are much crappier than the Southwick for a real mens store that I have seen. The Southwick for Cable Car Clothiers in San Franciso for example is really nice and much nicer than most 1818. If you do wait you can grab BB Golden Fleece for less than 1818 retail and that is better than Southwick assuming the fit is correct.

And this is the problem I always end up having to deal with. More often than not because of my having to size up to a 48R jacket for my chest and shoulders, there is sooo much fabric left in the stomach of the jacket that Brooks Brothers inhouse tailors are always so hesitant to touch it. I guess I need to say that I refuse to not have the jackets taken in or else the drape of the jacket off my shoulders makes me look like a walking juice box!
