Want a unique destination for your next WFH? Want amazing sunsets and stars? Did you miss the back-to-nature culture of the late 60's? Check out some of the coolist AIRBNB's in the Southwest for your next getaway. Located just outside of Taos, New Mexico is the birthplace of Earthships. Pioneered by architect Michael Reynolds in the early 1970s, Earthships were an experiment in building using earth, used tires, cans, and other recyclable materials for off-grid, solar-powered, and passive energy homes of today. If you’re interested in renting one of these unique homes, there are several Earthships for rent in Taos within the Greater World Earthship Community. Many for $150 to $200 a night.

For more information, check out Earthship videos on YouTube. They are remarkable structures that are warm in winter, cool in summer, and super efficient. As to be expected the community draws an eclectic group of creative types living close to the base of the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Another option for places to stay in the area, for a unique experience, is Hotel Luna Mystica located 14 miles outside of Taos and just 4 miles from the Rio Grande River Gorge. You stay in your choice of vintage trailers and enjoy unobstructed views of the mountains and the mile high mesa.

Not 'were', my friend, very much 'are'. There are more Earthships being built now than ever, and all over the world. I've helped build at least 3 in my life and I really wanted to build one for my family - but my partner unfortunatley wanted something less hippyish. But Taos is most definitely their spiritual home. I'd love to go there one day.

It's chili roasting time here in the Southwest. You can get roasted chili peppers in or on just about anything - omelettes, cheeseburgers, burritos, salads, even sushi to name a few. The aroma of roasted chili peppers is currently filling grocery store parking lots and farmers markets all around.

Trucks like this are parked along side of the roads and at farmers markets these days. Everyone is buying chili wreaths and Ristas (the long hanging chilis).

4 days, Mon to Thur. Airbnb is a mile away from downtown Santa Fe (Santa Fe plaza). Looking forward to load up on hatch chillies :inlove: and planning to visit Bandelier (weather permitting), Ghost ranch, Chimayo and Old town ABQ on last day. MIL is looking to shoot artisans at work. Hoping to see weavers at work in Trujillo weaving. Do you recommend where we can check out potters at work?

You are packing a lot of fun in on your trip. One suggestion, skip Old Town ABQ and go to https://lospoblanos.com/ for lunch or dinner.
Unfortunately I don’t know where you can see potters at work. However the most highly regarded Indian ceramics dealer in the country is right in downtown Santa Fe, the Andrea Fisher Gallery.
