South Beach Diet

    Has anyone tried this??

    I am on day 4 and find myself having not as much energy before. I gotta stay strong though!! I weigh 205lbs and my goal is to be around 180-185

    Dunno too much about the specifics of the diet but read the gist of it. If you're eliminating simple carbs and in general going to a lower carb diet, you're going to experience "flu" (low energy) like symptoms for a week or two.

    It's a ketogenic diet of sorts. Your also have CKD (often used by bodybuilders and lifters) and the slow carb diet (Tim Ferris's take on it,).

    You'll find yourself dehydrated, with bad breath and funky smelling piss. It works though. Your selenium levels will probably drop on a ketogenic diet, so take a couple of brazil nuts every day to help with that.

    South Beach isn't really worthy of attacking for being "low carb." It's only the first couple weeks that are carbless to wean yourself off the high-carb diet most people end up with. It also jump-starts the weight loss.

    I started SBD in late summer weighing 216 and got down to 198 by the holidays. Shifted to a vegan diet and dropped another 6 lbs. My goal weight is 170.

    SBD is very effective and much easier to stick to than most other "commercial" diets. At Phase II the list of restricted foods is small, you can easily find something to eat at restaurants or quickly prepare at home, and there's no real sacrifice to be made unless you have a penchant for white flour and soda.

    ^ It's so true. Of all the diets I considered this seemed the most do-able with good results.

    In 2 weeks I've dropped from 205 to 195!! Not bad I think!!
