I'm looking for a specific kind of casual hot-weather shirt and cannot find it in RTW. This is not an urgent but an idle want of mine these days.

Is anyone selling short-sleeve button-down pullovers, preferably with a square tail? I have a old one by Fairway and Greene; I checked and they do not have them in their current catalog.

For an idea of what I'm looking for add a chest pocket, maybe a longer, four-button placket, and imagine traditional cotton summer shirting fabrics while looking at this shirt from Reyn Spooner:

Plenty of good short-sleeve buttondowns out there but I'm not finding non-Aloha-shirt pullovers and it's been a while since I've seen one.

The April issue of Details has a feature on them. Pg 83, "The Half button Down"
With examples from Gant, Michael Bastian, Steven Alan and Hamilton 1883.

Ah- it's online too.

Go to Hamilton 1883 for the short-sleeves.

These were big in the early 80's along with Vans.

Thom Browne makes an awesome one. has some non-traditional details, fits very slim and is not cheap....but 100% awesome.

Nice leads. Thank you Cary Grant, robin, and HRoi. The Hamilton 1883 are super close to just what I was looking for.

dewey - i asked the same ? a couple of weeks ago (had been looking at hamilton 1886) and had mercer & sons recommended to me. they have a lot of choices and are better priced. i think they add on a $15 surcharge for popovers....
