    I think of silk shantung as a summer fabric but otherwise consider silk year-round.

    Similar to silk shantung, is silk madder reserved for a specific season?

    Madder is for tweed and flannel.

    So, if you have San Francisco summers, madder can still work in the summer.

    Madder is for tweed and flannel.

    I think this can be bent sometimes. There are some madders that are nice with worsteds.

    Wsheeewww, I wasn't sure but I'm relieved you chimed in on the subject. I would think the scale of certain motifs and those madders that lack the smudge appearance are suitable.

    ^ Nice tie, jrd. Very happy. The colour is much deeper and more vivid than I expected, and it's beautifully made. I'll do a proper fit pic (with a different shirt) another time, but I had to try it on yesterday: [​IMG]
